HEDON - Household Energy Network

The Household Energy Network (HEDON) was founded in 1992, initially as an effort to create a forum for northern partners with interest in household energy issues in the south. HEDON has since evolved into a global knowledge-oriented voluntary network of over 600 individuals and organisations from over 50 countries, focusing on energy in the context of acute poverty. HEDON is now arguably one of the most comprehensive and interactive household energy knowledge bases and a vital resource for informed energy policy-making for both northern and southern policy makers. HEDON provides resources such as news, events and opportunities through the internet, and via the printed publication 'Boiling Point' published together with ITDG. It also has a knowledge base and library that have research reports and work tools such as guidelines for cookstove testing and indoor air pollution monitoring. HEDON also supports capacity building by sponsoring young and upcoming energy experts, introducing them to comprehensive analysis of energy issues, policy making, communicating for change and project development among other issues.
